We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team at our Salinas, California, location.
The successful candidate will provide exceptional support to veterinarians in their daily schedules by assisting with patient care and performing critical administrative duties.
The Veterinary Assistant will work well under time constraints and pressure, being able to maintain a positive attitude and pivot quickly as circumstances and schedules change.
Responsibilities Proactively assist veterinarian with patient care using appropriate protection and safety measures, including (but not limited to) preparing treatment area for patient examination, restraining horses during examination and procedures, assisting with and/or performing diagnostic imaging and treatment, assisting with unloading from and onto trailers Collect and organize equipment for daily appointments, including restocking of veterinarian vehicle and treatment rooms Help maintain cleanliness of the practice, including but not limited to disinfecting surfaces, cleaning treatment and surgery areas, cleaning drains, stocking feeding stalls, and emptying trash Perform routine laboratory tests, documenting results and communicating with veterinarian Assist with preparation of surgical packs, tables, carts, medications, drapes, etc.
Track procedures performed and medications used during appointments, to assist the veterinarian with invoicing and restocking Perform post-surgical and post-treatment cleaning procedures Complete billing in HVMS.
Assist with driving to and from appointments.

Qualifications:
Basic horse husbandry skills High School Diploma or GED equivalent with prior equine restraint and handling experience required Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally Superb organizational skills that reflect proven ability to multi-task and own the details Tech-savvy, adaptable to new software and programs Resourceful and collaborative team-player Ability to maintain confidentiality Proficient in Microsoft Office Proficient in working online Must pass background check and have clean motor vehicle records history Job Type:
