POSITION DESCRIPTION Natividad is currently seeking to fill a permanent Manager of Diagnostic Imaging Services to direct the Radiology, Advanced Modalities and Ultrasound Units.
The responsibilities of this position include planning, organizing and directing the operations and staff of the units, along with meeting quality assurance, safety and accreditation requirements.
This incumbent reports directly to the Administrator responsible for oversight of Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Examples of Duties SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION Assures that the unit's performance meets the performance standards as set forth in the mission statement, goals and performance standards.
Assures that all policies and procedures pertaining to Diagnostic Imaging Services are implemented.
Assures that procedures maintain patient confidentiality and are compliant with community standards as well as relevant federal, state and accreditation agencies.
Assures that work activity is conducted in a safe manner and creates a safe environment for staff, patients and the public per the safety manual.
Assures that problems with medical-technical equipment are identified immediately.
Assures that materials and supplies are maintained in a secure and organized manner per the department's inventory list, facilitates appropriate inventory levels and minimizes waste of supplies and staff's time.
Consistently implements administrative decisions in a timely and effective manner as documented in staff meeting minutes.
Supports and actively participates in the effective integration of the Diagnostic Imaging Unit's services with other services that overlap; departmental conflicts are acknowledged and resolved through negotiations and collaboration between services at the lowest possible level.
Maintains effective communication with unit staff, administration and other managers as indicated by feedback; reports all negative situations with a plan of action to correct or prevent reoccurrence.
Recommends appropriate staffing levels, assuring employee and patient safety; assures that competent and qualified candidates are selected by the following appropriate recruitment and hiring procedures.
Uses the established work performance standards and conducts performance appraisals within a month of due date; employees with ongoing performance problems are documented and problems are corrected immediately, either through training or effective disciplinary actions.
Consistently guides and motivates others to perform to the maximum of their ability, which results in high morale and productivity in the work unit, as measured by the absence of complaints.
Demonstrates/facilitates systematic problem-solving process to resolve hospital problems or clarify discrepancies using the appropriate chain of command or report system.
Examples of Experience/Education/Training MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required Licensure:
Possession of a Radiologic Technologist license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health - OR - a temporary permit to practice Radiologic Technology by the State of California, Department of Public Health; AND possession of a Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy permit issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services are required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Will have proven track record demonstrating the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Thorough Knowledge of:
Current radiologic techniques, methods and apparatus; operation and care of radiographic equipment; principles of PACS, CR and DR Imagery; basic hospital and nursing care procedures; structural and organic anatomy.
Working knowledge of:
Principles and practices of effective management, including work planning, organization and delegation; personnel practices and employee training and development; principles and practices of quality assurance; safety policies and procedures related to diagnostic imaging services.
Skills and ability to:
Analyze, evaluate and draw logical conclusions from complex data; evaluate problems, policies and procedures and formulate an effective course of action in support of broad organizational objectives; think creatively; develop new methods procedures or approaches to achieve program goals and facilitate change; exercise initiative, ingenuity and sound judgment in identifying and solving difficult administrative problems; communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including patients, physicians, nurses and other hospital staff, vendors and other healthcare industry personnel; appraise performance, counsel, motivate and train employees; prepare documentation and implement corrective and disciplinary measures; gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of those contacted in the course of work; present ideas and information clearly, both orally and in writing.
Additional Information CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.
Natividad will conduct a thorough background and reference check process which includes a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven.
Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
