Sales Assistant (Fresh Produce Experience)
Job Description:
Produce West Inc. supplies the country's top retailers and wholesalers with quality produce every single day. We have a top-notch team in Salinas, California and we're currently seeking to hire a motivated and experienced Sales Assistant to provide support to our busy sales office.
The best candidates for this position will have experience in the produce industry and will be able to efficiently manage communications and information flow with suppliers, distributors, customers and the procurement team, including daily pricing/market run-down and daily contract pricing.
Responsibilities & Duties:
General sales team support
Prepare documents for USA and Canadian shipments
Manage and update Workflow as assigned
Support the procurement team by performing other duties as assigned
Occasional Accounting support
Answer phone calls in a professional, courteous manner and assist customers whenever appropriate.
Work effectively with sales personnel to resolve any issues
Implement quick decisions and problem solving in the sudden and unplanned situations that can occur in produce sales
Provide professional customer service in a fast paced environment, with a focus on process improvement and contribution to improving teamwork and workflow

The ideal candidate for this position will be highly organized and efficient with their time. Individuals should be proactive, focused, and a problem solver. You should understand the challenges of the produce industry with its demanding workload, dynamic environment, and constant changes.
Qualifications:
Experience in the produce industry
Excellent phone skills and excellent customer service skills
Ability to be proactive in a fast paced sales environment
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Good computer skills and the motivation to learn new skills
Desire to grow with the company and bring focus, flexibility and passion to the position
A strong work ethic, team player attitude, punctuality, and job dedication
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
